About Wry Toastmasters
What Wry Toastmasters is not:
What Wry Toastmasters is:
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language defines "wry" as:
- Dryly humorous, often with a touch of irony.
- Temporarily twisted in an expression of distaste or displeasure: made a wry face.
- Abnormally twisted or bent to one side; crooked: a wry nose.
- Being at variance with what is right, proper, or suitable; perverse.
Simply put, we are Toastmasters with a Wry sense of humor. But this is not to say that we are not serious Toastmasters.
Club number 4723, Area 65, Division F, District 2, Wry Toastmasters was chartered in 1981, making it one of the oldest Toastmasters Clubs in the Northwest. With currently over 40 members, a few of which have been with us since Day 1, we've achieved President Distinguished Toastmaster Club (the highest ranking possible) many years in a row. We count a past Toastmasters District Governor and a current Toastmasters Area Governor among our members.
Here's what a few of our members have to say in their own words about their Wry Toastmasters experience.
Our weekly meetings, from 7am to 8:15am every Thursday, are fun and full of energy. They'd better be at 7:00 in the morning! Why not jumpstart your day, as well as your success in business or community, by attending a meeting of Wry Toastmasters.
