About Us

At Wry Toastmasters, we are steeped in tradition. One of the oldest Toastmasters clubs in the Northwest, we consistently achieve.

Chartered in 1981 as Club number 4723, Area 65, Division F, District 2, Wry Toastmasters has earned President Distinguished Toastmaster Club status (the highest ranking possible) many years in a row. Our members are talented leaders within our Club, Area and Division.

Wry members are a diverse group. We thrive on learning about each other and helping each other succeed. Largely comprised of business professionals from the Eastside and Seattle areas, we are the early birds getting an energetic jump to start our day. You'll also find college students, artists, teachers and counselors within our ranks. We've even hatched a few professional speakers!

New members generally check out Toastmasters to tame their fear of public speaking.

Wry veterans will tell you there is more to be gained. Our supportive environment breeds confidence and success. Confidence comes as a result of evaluating and being evaluated. Respect for time comes with practice using bright red yellow and green timing lights. Polished speech, which contains few 'uhs', 'ahs', and 'ums', develops because you've learned to listen to yourself. Listening skills improve by focusing on fellow members to help them identify their strengths and progress. And Leadership skills develop through the Toastmasters Leadership program.

  • Deliver great presentations
  • Easily lead teams and conduct meetings
  • Give and receive constructive evaluations
  • Be a better listener

We are open to the public, and guests are always welcome!
